These usually come through firm orders with the vendor and link to Tech Street. But sometimes if a different person from Eng. sends it in, it's confusing. This is Mary Schlembach's explanation:
- The easiest way to order these is through TechStreet (which is now part of ASME) www.techstreet.com and in print format.
- If it is needed in e-format, it is very important to make sure the user indicator at the bottom is "multi-user". If it is only single-user, then the only person that can review it is the person that ordered it, which means you or another person in Acquisitions, which is very problematic and we end up canceling the order.
- If it is needed in .pdf - the problem with .pdf is that we really have no place to house them. At one point there was chatter about how to catalog them, etc. but it gets complicated quickly since standards are updated or even simply edited so often.
So they are usually asked for in print sent to ENX UNCAT.
