This function allows users to compile more than one files or groups of files to MARC in batches. In order to utilize this function, you will have to have the files in a dedicated directory where MarcEdit can find them, as you cannot select the files you would like to include in the batch one at a time. While this demonstration will outline how to map files from MARCXML to MARC, any of the transformations available in MarcTools can also be performed in batches as below. Simply select the file you are converting and enter the file extension.

1. Open MarcEdit from Start Menu
2. Select Tools from the top menu, then select Marc Processing Tools -> Batch Process Records.  
3. Select the folder containing the XML files you would like to convert into MARC files. MarcEdit will create a folder for the processed files.
4. It will be able to complete the process if you do not enter anything under the “File Type.” Be sure you have selected From MARCXML to MARC in the “Function” drop down menu. When you are ready click Process. When it has finished processing you will receive a confirmation window:

5. The batch converted files can now be found in the folder which contains the MARC files in a new folder called “processed_files.”

4. Click Process. Once MarcEdit is finished you will see a dialog box confirms the files have been generated.

5. The batch converted files can now be found in the folder which contains the XML files in a new folder called “processed_files.”
