Pollution Prevention 101

The Green Chemistry Education Webinar Series highlights relevant topics for chemistry educators and students to incorporate green chemistry into their courses, labs and programs. The webinars are open to the community and are recorded and posted for access following the live webinar.

Intended for educators at high schools, career and vocational institutes, community colleges and trade schools. The curriculum is made up of three modules: Environmental Sustainability, Lean Manufacturing and Pollution Prevention, and Energy and Carbon. Each module includes a slide presentation and a facilitator's guide complete with handouts, activities, quizzes, and facilitator's notes. The facilitator's guide also uses visually engaging icons to assist educators in appropriately conveying the material to the students.

EPA offers high quality on-demand training videos on timely industrial energy management topics. Drawing on the best practices of leading ENERGY STAR partners, these videos feature proven strategies.

The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) offers interactive, online eTraining courses to help Federal agencies develop core competencies and comply with energy-efficiency and renewable-energy water-management and sustainability requirements. FEMP is partnering with the National Institute of Building Sciences' Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG) to host these comprehensive, FEMP-developed eTraining courses. FEMP offers a certificate of completion upon successfully finishing an eTraining course and submitting an evaluation. Certified FEMP trainings award IACET-accredited continuing education units (CEUs) that are recognized internationally by credentialing associations, licensing bodies, and employers. One hour of study is equivalent to .1 CEU. Trainings that offer IACET CEUs are indicated with the number of CEUs provided. FEMP eTraining courses are paced by the learner. They are designed so that a user can begin a course, step away, and then resume it at a later time.

The Sustainability Seminar Series continues each semester, usually one or two per month, with presentations by researchers, policy makers, and corporate executives on various topics related to Sustainability, Energy, and the Environment.

Michigan EGLE offers webinar series on a variety of environmental topics.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs' Retired Engineer Technical Assistance Program (RETAP) received a U.S. EPA State and Tribal Assistance Grant focused on Pollution Prevention (P2). Under this grant, RETAP developed training and guidance documents for a number of P2 tools, as well as templates for conducting on-site assistance and source reduction planning (SRP). These materials are specifically designed to reduce toxic/hazardous material usage and disposal at small to mid-sized manufacturers.

To celebrate P2 Week, MnTAP shares a mini-webinar each day to highlight a success story in one aspect of pollution prevention.

MnTAP staff has produced a series of webinars to provide information on the topic of TCE alternatives.

In February 2022, The Climate Economy and University of Illinois’ SEDAC presented the Sustainable Business Webinar Series. The webinar series aimed to help businesses adapt and recover, build resilience, and reduce costs through sustainability practices. We talked about why sustainability matters for small business and covered a variety of low to no cost savings opportunities to get your business started down its sustainability journey. We also covered available incentive programs and how to get recognized for your green efforts with the Illinois Green Business Program. Webinars were sponsored by the Illinois Green Business Association and The Climate Economy Education Inc, both 501(c)(3) organizations.
