Green purchasing attempts to identify and reduce environmental impact and to maximize resource efficiency by adding environmental considerations to the price and performance criteria that organizations use to make purchasing decisions, including the product's entire life cycle (manufacture through end-of-life disposal). It is also sometimes referred to as environmentally preferred purchasing (EPP), green procurement, affirmative procurement, eco-procurement, or environmentally responsible purchasing. For more in-depth information about green purchasing, see the Green Business LibGuide.
