IDEALS

This guide has information on how to deposit and access IDEALS materials for individuals and collection administrators.

Save the item handle for future access

If you expect you will want to reinstate this item in the future, save its unique handle (the hdl.handle.net link) so you can access it later.

Withdraw from the item page

To withdraw an item, log into IDEALS and go to the item page. On the right side of the page, across from the item's title, click "Actions" and select "Withdraw" from the drop-down menu.

A verification screen will ask you to provide a reason for the withdrawal. This is helpful for the administration of IDEALS. Click the "Withdraw" button at the bottom of the popup, or "Cancel" if you decide not to withdraw. When you withdraw an item from IDEALS, it will disappear not just from your collection but from all collections to which it is mapped. To withdraw an item is to make it inaccessible in IDEALS.

Once you withdraw, you will be sent back to the Item Status tab, and a notice will appear that the item has been withdrawn.

Reinstate an item

Items can be reinstated to IDEALS, but you must have the handle to find the item. Contact ideals@library.illinois.edu if you have any problems trying to withdraw or reinstate an item.
