Gaihozu Digital Archives

Gaihōzu Digital Archives (Tohoku University Library)

東北大学付属図書館外邦図デジタルアーカイブ

This digital archives contains a collection of Gaihōzu, maps of foreign countries ("outside of Japanese territory"), created by the Ministry of Land Survey  between Meiji and the end of the WWII.  Because these maps were created for military purposes and were confidential documents, many of them were destroyed or confiscated after the defeat.
