Acta Antiqua publishes original research papers, review articles and book reviews in the field of ancient studies. It covers the field of history, literature, philology and material culture of the Ancient East, the Classical Antiquity and, to a lesser part, of Byzantium and the Latin culture of Mediaeval, Renaissance and Early Modern Europe, as well as the "Nachleben" of Classical Antiquity.

Acta Classica publishes contributions on any aspect of Classical Studies, but also considers submissions on Patristic and Byzantine themes, especially where they relate to Africa.

The Hungarian Historical Review (formerly Acta Historica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae) is a peer-reviewed international journal of the social sciences and humanities with a focus on Hungarian history. The journal’s geographical scope—Hungary and East-Central Europe—makes it unique: the Hungarian Historical Review explores historical events in Hungary, but also raises broader questions in a transnational context. The articles and book reviews cover topics regarding Hungarian and East-Central European History. The journal aims to stimulate dialogue on Hungarian and East-Central European history in a transnational context. The journal fills lacuna, as it provides a forum for articles and reviews in English on Hungarian and East-Central European history, making Hungarian historiography accessible to the international reading public and part of the larger international scholarly discourse.

Founded in 1920 by Aristide Calderini and directed by him until his death (1968). The direction was then entrusted to Orsolina Montevecchi until year n. 80 (2000). Since year 81 (2001) the Director has been Rosario Pintaudi. The editing is care of the Papyrology School of the Catholic University of Milan. A general index of the first 50 years (1920-1970) can be found in “Studia Amstelodamensia” II (1974) edited by S.M.E. van Lith. This specialized magazine publishes articles of Egyptology, Greek and Coptic Papyrology written by Italian and foreign scholars, in Italian, French, English, Spanish and German.

This journal, first published in 1927, represents for a large segment of humanistic studies the voice of the Faculty of Art and Philosophy of the Università Cattolica del S. Cuore. It has both a national and an international circulation. Currently it publishes in three yearly installments - dedicated respectively to the Classical Age, to the Middle Ages and to modern Europe - both short and long articles, reviews and bibliographical notes. Each installment, by offering editions of unpublished texts, making rigorous analysis, providing critical discussions, contribute to the advance of knowledge.

Fondata nel 1988 da Giovanni Tarditi, "Aevum antiquum" è una rivista di filologia classica. Nella nuova serie, inaugurata del 2001, ogni numero è diviso in due sezioni. La prima ("Forum") è incentrata attorno ad un tema unitario, un testo, un autore, un'idea della cultura antica greca o romana, e ospita un articolo base seguito da una discussione a più voci, o, in alternativa, gli atti di un convegno di particolare interesse. La seconda sezione ("Convivium") consiste in una serie di articoli di diversi autori relativi a specifici problemi posti dai documenti delle letterature classiche. Il Forum di ogni numero è dedicato, ad anni alterni, ad un tema greco o ad uno latino. In entrambe le sezioni la rivista, che intende essere fedele alla tradizione di rigore della migliore filologia classica, è sensibile alla riflessione teorica e metodologica più recente, ed è aperta alla ricerca interdisciplinare.

Ideen, Inhalte und Formen in Literatur, Philosophie und Kunst, aber auch in anderen Bereichen der Geistes- und Naturwissenschaften sind bis heute durch die antike Tradition maßgeblich beeinflusst. Griechische und lateinische Texte aus Antike, Mittelalter und Neuzeit führen uns zu den Quellen und in den Fluss dieser Tradition. The American Historical Review (AHR) is the official publication of the American Historical Association (AHA). The AHA was founded in 1884 and chartered by Congress in 1889 to serve the interests of the entire discipline of history. The American Journal of Archaeology, published by the Archaeological Institute of America, was founded in 1885 and is one of the world's oldest and most distinguished and widely distributed archaeological journals. The AJA reaches more than 50 countries and almost 1,000 universities, learned societies, departments of antiquities, and museums. It is published quarterly in print and digital formats. The AJA regularly publishes open access content on its website.

The original American Journal of Numismatics was established in 1866 as a monthly newsletter for the Society. Over time it came to include more substantial numismatic articles, but it was discontinued in 1924. In 1989, the name was revived for what had previously been called the American Numismatic Society Museum Notes. This second series of the American Journal of Numismatics is one of the world's leading scholarly journals in numismatics. It is published as a single hardcover volume annually, containing article-length works of original research in all areas of numismatics.

Founded in 1880 by Basil Lanneau Gildersleeve, American Journal of Philology (AJP) has helped to shape American classical scholarship. Today, the Journal has achieved worldwide recognition as a forum for international exchange among classicists and philologists by publishing original research in classical literature, philology, linguistics, history, society, religion, philosophy, and cultural and material studies. Book review sections are featured in every issue. AJP is open to a wide variety of contemporary and interdisciplinary approaches, including literary interpretation and theory, historical investigation, and textual criticism.

Among the many current periodicals in the world, very few can claim such an authority, that even the oldest issues keep all their usefulness one century after their publication. That is however the case for Analecta Bollandiana, a journal of critical hagiography, edited and published since 1882 by the Société des Bollandistes in Brussels. Since the very beginning, the journal was conceived as a continuous updating of the prestigious Acta Sanctorum series, as well as an entirely new instrument devoted to hagiographical research. Every issue contains both critical editions of hagiographical texts (Greek, Latin, Oriental...), and fundamental studies about hagiography. The articles are published in modern international languages (English, French, German or Italian), although an English summary has been appended in the latest issues to all the contributions which are not written in English. About one fifth of each issue is devoted to book reviews and bibliography on hagiography.

La Revista Analecta Malacitana veía la luz en 1978, apoyada por las distintas secciones del ámbito de la Filología en la Universidad de Málaga. Su objetivo esencial era convertirse en cauce de difusión abierto y pluralista a labores filológicas de entidad científica. Con un marcado carácter de miscelánea filológica el proyecto tuvo como catalizador e impulsor al Dr. Olegario García de la Fuente, cumpliendo en una primera etapa con una idea de variedad equilibrada, de la que puede ser buena muestra el volumen XV de 1992, precisamente dedicado como homenaje a quien ha sido el primer Director de la Revista. En dicho volumen se reúnen ensayos teóricos de hondo calado (sobre el cuestionamiento del comentario de textos o la historia del concepto Siglo de Oro) con una extensa nómina de estudios monográficos: desde formulaciones lingüísticas en la legislación foral leonesa a la novelística de Martín Gaite, pasando por la novela sentimental, el diálogo renacentista o los trabajos sobre Federico García Lorca.

Analecta Romana Instituti Danici (ARID) and the Supplementa series publish studies within the main range of the Academy's research activities: the humanities (e.g. ancient history, archaeology, art history, history, literature, philology), the fine arts and architecture. Since 2008 the journal is published both on paper and on-line.

Anatolian Studies is the annual journal of the British Institute at Ankara. It contains articles focused on Turkey and the Black Sea littoral in all academic disciplines within the arts, humanities, social sciences and environmental sciences as related to human occupation and history. Articles are in English and are accessible to a wide academic readership. Anatolian Studies is a refereed journal.

AHB promotes scholarly discussion in Ancient History and ancillary fields (such as epigraphy, papyrology, and numismatics) by publishing articles and notes on any aspect of the ancient world from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity. Although contributors are encouraged to submit articles in English, submissions in French, German, Italian, and Spanish are welcome. AHB appears twice per year in double-issues (1-2 and 3-4).

Ancient Philosophy is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to the publication of original articles, discussions, and reviews in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and science. Established in 1980, this journal is an essential source of excellent scholarship in its field. It is published by Mathesis Publications in June and December issues.

Published since 1978 The Ancient World is a refereed semi-annual journal (June and December), dedicated to original research in antiquity, from the most ancient civilizations to the Byzantine epoch. Topics in Archaeology, Epigraphy, Numismatics, Papyrology, Geography, Topography and Religion are treated within their historical context.

Gli Annali del Dipartimento di Filosofia dell'Università di Firenze riflettono le ricerche scientifiche e le iniziative di studio legate all’attività del Dipartimento. Pubblicati dal 1979 al 1984 con il titolo di «Annali dell’Istituto di Filosofia dell’Università di Firenze», hanno assunto l’attuale denominazione dal 1985. Founded in 1979, the journal publishes the findings of the philological-literary research conducted by the Department by which is published, concerning the history of Greek and Latin literature, and, more generally, the history of ancient culture in all its aspects (religion, philosophy, law, politics, poetics, rhetoric, science). It also deals with the linguistic analysis of the two classical languages of Greek and Latin, the structure of each text and the problems connected with their trasmission through the centuries, from the Middle Ages to Humanism and the Renaissance. It is open to external contributors from the same areas of research; it often publishes entire volumes on the proceedings of meetings organized by "L'Orientale" or by other universities, in conjunction with scholars who work or have worked for "L'Orientale."

The first volume of The American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) Annual appeared in 1920, making it ASOR's signature publication. The Annual is a medium for the publication of lengthy preliminary or interim archaeological reports, or monograph-length studies relating to archaeology in the Near East.

The Annual of the British School at Athens is an illustrated journal of over 300 pages published for the School by Cambridge University Press. Established for over a century (the Centenary volume appeared in 1995), it is a peer-reviewed journal which publishes accounts of the School's projects and articles on a wide range of Hellenic subjects. In the 2011 ERIH lists it is classified as INT1 ("international publications with high visibility and influence among researchers in the various research domains in different countries, regularly cited all over the world").

In the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council, interest in the history of Church Councils was newly ignited. In 1968 Walter Brandmüller and Remigius Bäumer initiated a grant research project on the ecumenical and regional Councils. The Annuarium Historiae Conciliorum, an international research journal on the Councils, edited by Walter Brandmüller and Remigius Bäumer, was first published in 1969.

Founded in 1888 by Rene Cagnat, L'Année epigraphique, which has been under the direction of Mireille Corbier since February 1992, is both a research tool and a work of reference. Each year, the journal takes an inventory of the new Greek and Latin inscriptions relative to the Roman world that have been published in the past two and a half years. The journal also offers commentary on inscriptions already published and on primary sources based on epigraphic documentation. The editorial style of L'Année epigraphique is a work of original research, in which the writers, who have been recruited for their qualifications and for their complementary specializations, have invested an accumulated knowledge in epigraphy and in the history of ancient societies.

L’Année philologique was founded in Paris in 1926 by Jules Marouzeau, and has long been considered an indispensible resource by the research scholars who are its intended users. Its goal is to collect annually scholarly works relating to every aspect of Greek and Roman civilization (authors and texts ; literature ; linguistics ; political, economic, and social history ; attitudes and daily life ; religion ; cultural and artistic life ; law ; philosophy ; science and technology ; and the history of classical studies). Significant space is accorded to the auxiliary disciplines (archaeology, epigraphy, numismatics, papyrology and paleography). Book notices are followed by a listing of reviews as these are published ; notices of articles include an abstract in English, German, Spanish, French, or Italian. L’Année philologique is international in character, not only in terms of the origins of the publications it indexes but also in the diversity of countries where the teams collaborating in its compilation are located (France,Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States). Every year, its contents are added to the on-line database « L’Année philologique sur Internet », which enables consultation of the entire collection by means of multiple search criteria.

Antichthon is an annual internationally recognized journal of ancient world studies. While it places its main emphasis on Greece and Rome, its scope has been broadly defined so as to embrace the Ancient Near East and the Mediterranean from the beginnings of civilization to the Early Middle Ages. The journal is open to contributions from any country, and will publish articles on topics relating to the languages, literature, thought, history and archaeology of the ancient world. It will not undertake full-scale reviewing, but may include occasional reviews and articles reporting the progress of scholarship in a particular field of enquiry. The language of publication is English. From time to time special thematic volumes will be published.

The yearbook Antike und Abendland is a forum for interdisciplinary discussion of topics from Antiquity and the history of their later effects. The Editorial Board contains representatives from the disciplines of Classical Studies, Ancient History, Germanic Studies, Romance Studies and English Studies.

The Antiquaries Journal aims to reflect the multi-disciplinary nature of the study of material culture, publishing a balanced mix of papers from all periods, from prehistory to the recent past. The journal seeks papers that address research questions from a variety of perspectives, combining, for example, historical, art historical, architectural, linguistic, archaeological and scientific data. It will be essential reading for archaeologists, architectural and art historians and material culture specialists, as well as those involved in conservation in its broadest application.

Antiquity is a peer-reviewed journal of world archaeology. Founded by O.G.S. Crawford in 1927, the journal reports new archaeological research, method and issues of international significance in plain language to a broad academic and professional readership. The journal is published six times a year in February, April, June, August, October and December. Antiquity is owned by the Antiquity Trust, a registered charity, with the editorial office based at the Department of Archaeology at Durham University.

L’Antiquité classique is a journal of international audience and value, published by an Belgian inter-university society which associates the main Belgian universities: Brussels, Ghent, Liège and Louvain. The journal covers the whole field of Classical studies, from the Helladic Period to Late Antiquity and reception. Topics as Greek and Latin literature, patristic studies, linguistic and philology, philosophy, religious studies, science and technology, epigraphy and papyrology, numismatic, Greek and Roman history, classical archaeology, gender studies and cultural reception are regularly proposed. Since 1932, L’Antiquité classique is one of the established journals in this field. It has been published annually without interruption by the academic Belgian institutions and universities with the support of the FRS-FNRS and the Fondation Universitaire and is available in October of each year.

Apeiron was founded in 1966 and has developed into one of the oldest and most distinguished journals dedicated to the study of ancient philosophy, ancient science, and, in particular, of problems that concern both fields. Apeiron is committed to publishing high-quality research papers in these areas of ancient Greco-Roman intellectual history; it also welcomes submission of articles dealing with the reception of ancient philosophical and scientific ideas in the later western tradition. The journal appears quarterly. Articles are peer-reviewed on a double-blind basis.

Apocrypha is published with the scholarly assistance of the Association pour l'Étude de la Littérature Apocryphe Chrétienne (AELAC) and the Société pour l'Étude de la Littérature Apocryphe Chrétienne (SELAC). The journal is focused on the treasures of material borne through literature and other expressions of the imagination over two millennia. This material was generated, cultivated and transmitted by numerous Jewish communities and a range of Christian communities throughout Asia, Africa and Europe.

Archaeology International, produced annually, combines news about UCL Institute of Archaeology activities with reports on research, both on new and on-going projects, carried out by members of staff. Papers reflect the broad geographical, theoretical and methodological scope of research at the Institute. This Institute publication supercedes the Institute of Archaeology Bulletin (published until 1994, numbers 30 and 31). Archaeology International has a fully online edition, to which back issues have been added.

One of the oldest archaeological journals in the world, published since 1837. It is the main scholarly publication of the Archaeological Society at Athens and contains archaeological studies or publications of excavations. One volume is issued each year.

This journal publishes articles in the field of Polish, European, and ancient archaeology. In this framework, there are also edited thematic volumes, such as Glass Archaeology and Underwater Archaeology. Archeologica Classica è una rivista edita da Sapienza - Università di Roma, Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità. E’ stata fondata da Giulio Q. Giglioli nel 1949 ed è pubblicata annualmente nel mese di ottobre. La rivista accoglie contributi in lingua italiana e straniera (francese, inglese, spagnola e tedesca) a firma di studiosi di varia nazionalità provenienti dal mondo accademico e delle istituzioni museali, di ricerca e di tutela italiane e straniere.
La rivista copre un ampio spettro di settori dell’archeologia, della storia e della storia dell’arte del mondo etrusco-italico, greco e romano su un arco cronologico esteso dalla protostoria al tardoantico, attraverso l’analisi delle fonti archeologiche, epigrafiche, letterarie e iconografiche; essa si contraddistingue, inoltre, per l’attenzione agli studi di storia dell’archeologia.

Fondées en 1926 par Étienne Gilson et Gabril Thery O.P., les Archives d'Histoire Doctrinale et Littéraire du Moyen Âge sont une publication historique annuelle, consacrée à l'étude de la pensée médiévale et à l'histoire littéraire de ses écrits. Elles ne publient que des articles de recherche comportant des éléments neufs et solidement documentés, et des textes inédits, ou d'édition insuffisante, appuyés sur une tradition manuscrite de première main. Ils sont respectivement regroupés sous les rubriques «Études doctrinales et littéraires» et «Textes». The Archives Internationales d'Histoire des Sciences, the only generalist journal for the history of science, is the continuation of Archeion.Archivo di storia della scienza, founded in 1919 in Rome by the renowned Aldo Mieli. The Archives Internationales d'Histoire des Sciences is one of the most prestigious journals in its field. It is the publication of the Académie Internationale d'Histoire des Sciences, an organisation that brings together the best specialists from around the world. In two issues per year, the Archives publishes about 450 pages of articles and reviews on all subjects, all periods, and all cultural areas.

Analogous to a wide interpretation of the term “cultural history,” the articles’ range is broad and diverse. Generally, all epochs and cultural spaces can be presented, topics range from history in a narrower sense to philosophy and sociology. However, a historical aspect is always present. Main focus is on German history of course, the eras from the Middle Ages up to the present shall be considered as equally as possible.

The Archiv für Papyrusforschung is the oldest specialized journal for papyrology in the world. It publishes articles, reports on newly published papyri, and editions of literary and documentary papyri.

Archiv für Religionsgeschichte is a specialized journal dealing primarily with religions of the ancient world. The different aspects of the field of research are covered in essays, reports on the main areas of religious studies and in individual articles.

Archivo Español de Arqueología, fundada en 1940 por Antonio García y Bellido como rama especializada de Archivo Español de Arte y Arqueología (1925), es una revista científica de periodicidad anual que publica trabajos de Arqueología, con atención a sus fuentes materiales, literarias, epigráficas o numismáticas. Tiene como campo de interés las culturas del ámbito mediterráneo y europeo desde la Protohistoria a la Alta Edad Media, flexiblemente abierto a realidades culturales próximas y tiempos fronterizos. Im Archäologischen Anzeiger werden Kurzbeiträge zu aktuellen Forschungen und Berichte über Grabungsprojekte des DAI sowie von Fachkollegen weltweit publiziert. Schwerpunktmäßig informiert die Zeitschrift über Themen aus dem Mittelmeerraum von der Vorgeschichte bis in die Spätantike, durchaus aber auch über Projekte außerhalb des Kernbereichs der Alten Welt.

Das Archäologische Korrespondenzblatt erscheint vierteljährlich und informiert die Fachwelt in kurzen Beiträgen über neue Ergebnisse der archäologischen Forschung. Es versteht sich als aktuelle wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift zu Themen der vor- und frühgeschichtlichen sowie provinzialrömischen Archäologie und ihrer Nachbarwissenschaften in Europa. Neben der Forschungsdiskussion finden hier Neufunde und kurze Analysen von überregionalem Interesse ihren Platz.

Arheološki vestnik is the central Slovenian archaeological journal. It publishes original scientific and professional contributions that present findings in the field of archaeology in the eastern/south-eastern Alpine, northern Adriatic and western Balkan regions with an emphasis on the territory of modern Slovenia and neighboring countries. It also welcomes discussions on new theoretical aspects/concepts, methodological approaches and critical assessments, but also contributions from other scientific fields that complement archaeology in shedding light on the history of the regions (ancient/Greek and Roman history, epigraphy, numismatics, physical anthropology, archaeozoology, archaeobotany, archaeoastronomy, palaeoenvironment and others). Also accepted for publication are thematic sets from scientific conferences and meetings. Contributions are published in Slovenian and other languages, with summaries or full translations as well as abstracts in Slovenian and English.

More than humane philology is essential for keeping the classics as a living force. Arion therefore exists to publish work that needs to be done and that otherwise might not get done. We want to stimulate, provoke, even "plant" work that now finds no encouragement or congenial home elsewhere. This means swimming against the mainstream, resisting the extremes of conventional philology and critical fashion into which the profession is now polarized. But occupying this vital center should in no way preclude the crucial centrifugal movement that may lead us across disciplinary lines and beyond the academy. Our commitment is to a genuine and generous pluralism that opens up rather than polarizes classical studies. We will not be coerced into conforming either to the traditional paradigms or to the "new" metaphysic and ideological absolutism of contemporary theory. If we are to move beyond the cant of "isms" now dominating the academy, intellectual daring is needed, not disciplinary diffidence.

The Art Bulletin publishes leading scholarship in the English language in all aspects of art history as practiced in the academy, museums, and other institutions. From its founding in 1913 the journal has published, through rigorous peer review, scholarly articles and critical reviews of the highest quality in all areas and periods of the history of art. Articles take a variety of methodological approaches, from the historical to the theoretical. In its mission as a journal of record, The Art Bulletin fosters an intensive engagement with intellectual developments and debates in contemporary art-historical practice. The journal, which welcomes submissions from scholars worldwide and at every career stage, is published four times a year in March, June, September, and December by the College Art Association.

Fondata nel 1913 come «organo di vita scientifica delle Università italiane per la parte che riguarda le discipline letterarie e storiche» da Carlo Pascal, che la diresse fino alla morte nel 1926, nel 1927 fu affidata a Plinio Fraccaro che ne restrinse il campo d'interesse alla storia e letteratura dell'antichità e ne tenne la direzione sino al 1959. Gli subentrò, dal 1960 al 1989, Enrica Malcovati, cui è succeduto fino al 2005 Emilio Gabba, Direttore onorario fino alla sua scomparsa nel 2013. Direttore responsabile dal 2006 è Giancarlo Mazzoli, condirettore Dario Mantovani.

An international, peer-reviewed archaeological journal published biannually by the Department of Archaeology and History of Art of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. It is dedicated to the publication of original research articles and reports focusing on, or related to the archaeology, art and material culture in the broader Greek world, from the earliest Prehistory to the Modern Era.

Dal 1823 la cronaca accademica venne ospitata regolarmente sul "Tiroler Boethe" e quindi nella appendice del "Messaggere tirolese". A partire dal 1826 e fino al 1875 si ebbero tuttavia anche alcune edizioni in forma indipendente sotto il titolo di "Atti della i.r. Accademia degli Agiati", ma fu solo con il 1883 che prese avvio la pubblicazione annuale – praticamente ininterrotta fino ad oggi – degli Atti Accademici come rivista autonoma edita direttamente dall'Accademia. Nel corso del tempo la denominazione della testata, che è venuta raccogliendosi in nove "Serie" consecutive, venne più volte modificata, fino ad arrivare alla dicitura odierna di "Atti della Accademia roveretana degli Agiati"; dal 1959 il periodico esce in due fascicoli (A e B) dedicati rispettivamente alla Classe di Scienze Umane / Classe di Lettere ed Arti ed alla Classe di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Naturali.

Augustiniana is the peer-reviewed scholarly international journal of the Augustinian Historical Institute (Belgium), devoted to the study of Saint Augustine, the Augustinian Order, Augustinianism and Jansenism. It was founded in 1951 by N. Teeuwen, making it one of the oldest still existing journals specialized in the study of Augustine. Under the guidance of the esteemed prof. T.J. van Bavel, the journal soon became an international platform for researchers. Its wide international orientation is illustrated by the fact that since long the journal accepts articles written in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

Peer-reviewed scholarly journal devoted to the study of the life, teachings, and influence of Augustine of Hippo. It publishes articles from a variety of disciplines and perspectives including philosophy, theology, and history, as well as article-length reviews of appropriate publications. While the primary focus of the journal is the study of Augustine himself, articles illuminating aspects of Augustinian studies more broadly conceived are also included when they contribute to the understanding of Augustine's life or thought.

Peer-reviewed journal of the Augustinian Patristic Institute in Rome. Since 1961 it has published original research and reviews related to the study of ancient Christian literature and the thought of the Fathers of the Church. In its first ten years the journal published a number of Targumim. Also, from 1973-1988 the journal published many of the papers presented at the annual Meetings of Scholars of Christian Antiquity, which is held in early May at the Institutum Patristicum Augustinianum.
