GreenFILE offers well-researched but accessible information covering all aspects of human impact on the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles include content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done on each level to minimize negative impact. Topics covered include global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. GreenFILE is multidisciplinary by nature and draws on the connections between the environment and a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology.

Environmental Issues Online This link opens in a new windowThis collection of multimedia materials (text, archival primary sources, video and audio) focuses on environmental challenges, including climate change, water/air pollution, biodiversity, conservation, agriculture, deforestation and more. The database is curated around the events and environmental issues of the 20th and 21st centuries. The content is drawn from the social sciences, ecology and earth science, and the humanities.

GEOBASE This link opens in a new windowGEOBASE is a unique multidisciplinary database supplying bibliographic information and abstracts for development studies, the Earth sciences, ecology, geomechanics, human geography, and oceanography. The database provides current coverage of almost 2,000 international journals, including both peer-reviewed titles and trade publications, and provides archival coverage of several thousand additional journal titles and books. GEOBASE contains over 1.4 million records from 1980 to present, with more than 100,000 citations and abstracts added annually (almost 985 of all records include abstracts).

PAIS Index This link opens in a new windowThe PAIS Archive includes carefully selected resources to help users identify and locate information about significant political, economic, social and cultural issues affecting international and local communities, countries, governments and society. Its broad topical scope and retrospective coverage complement more specialized databases that cover the humanities, health care, agriculture, sociology, history, and many other disciplines, providing historical perspective on many of the 20th century's public and social policies. Provides page images of back issues of the core scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences, and basic sciences from the earliest issues to within a few years of current publication. Users may browse by journal title or discipline, or may search the full-text or citations/abstracts. New issues of existing titles and new titles are added approximately on a weekly basis. Finding Articles
Step One: Finding your database
Options:
- Use one of the databases listed on this guide.
- Explore the A-Z Database List. You can filter this list by subject (e.g. European Union, Political Science, Business & Economics, etc.), by type (e.g. Full text, Primary sources, etc.), or search by name or the first letter.
If one database isn't giving you the results you want, feel free to switch to another database!
Step Two: Finding online articles
There are three ways to find online articles:
- Directly through a database, which will provide a link to online articles through the Library's Discover Full Text (Note: it's in a blue box).
- Through the Library's Journal and Article Locator
- Search for journals (but not articles) via the Primo Library Catalog's Journal Search.
Step Three: Finding print articles
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Library will be providing scans of print articles in its collections. You can request scans via Document Delivery.
Step Four: Interlibrary Loan
If your article is not available in full-text online and it is not available in print, you can request the article through Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery.
- Choose "Request a photocopy" and fill out the entire form, including the source of the citation. This process typically takes 7-10 days, so plan ahead! Interlibrary Loan will most likely deliver your article as a .pdf file to your email address.
