The National Theater

Macedonian National Theatre is the oldest and largest theater institution in the Republic established in 1945. During its existence, the theater staged some 300 premieres and played over 8,000 plays. The original theater was severely damaged in the earthquake of 1963.

Did You Know?

There is a Theatre of the Nationalities in Skopje, consisting of Albanian and Turkish Drama companies. There are also Romany theatre companies.

Theater

Festival Okhridsko Leto has been held for 50 years in Skopje and is one of the major European theatrical events.
