Music 511: Foundations and Methods of Musicology I: Introduction

Beyond This Class

The following guides will be helpful when you start to prepare for researching and writing your thesis/dissertation and for your comps/prelims.

Getting Started

This site is intended to help students in Music 511. The tabs above each cover a type of library resource/area. Please note that there are several sub-tabs under the "Finding Music Materials: Home" tab and under the "Finding Journal Articles in Music" tab.

For more about the basics of the Music and Performing Arts Library and our collections, policies, facilities, and services, please see our Welcome guide.

If, during the course of your research, you encounter resources that we do not own, please request the item from the IShare catalog or via InterLibrary Loan. (See the tab called "Materials Beyond UIUC".) If the item can't be lent or you really think MPAL should own the item, please recommend that we purchase it.

Getting Help

If you have any questions, please stop by the reference desk at the library or use the buttons bellow to schedule an appointment with a librarian to meet one-on-one and discuss your research. You may also reach us via email at mpal@library.illinois.edu
