Arabic-language resources at the UIUC Library: Periodicals

An introduction to the University Library's holdings of Arabic-language materials, including current periodicals, reference works, language-learning materials, databases, DVDs, archival collections, and the 55,000-volume general Arabic-language collection

Current periodicals in print format

As of April 2011, the IAS Library houses current issues of over 125 Arabic-language periodicals, including both scholarly and popular journals.

Older periodicals

As new issues of periodicals continue to arrive, older issues are bound together and transferred to the Main Stacks.  These can currently be found along the east wall of Deck 8.

Current issues of dozens of Arabic newspapers

The Library has access to full-color digital versions of over 40 Arabic newspapers, updated daily, via Library Press Display.  Issues of each newspaper are available in a rolling 90-day window (i.e., the most recent 90 days' worth of each newspaper are available for viewing at any given time).  Countries represented include Egypt (14 titles), Saudi Arabia (also 14), Oman (4), Lebanon (2), the UAE (2), Kuwait (2), Sudan(2), Jordan (1), Qatar (1) and Bahrain (1).
