Cinema Studies Libary Guide: Film Reviews for Early Films

This assignment will require you to go to the Literatures and Languages Library in room 200 and use their print periodicals.

Step 1: Film Review Index

Your first step will be to consult the Film Review Index, which is located on the west wall of 200. It is organized by year. For early films, use Vols. 1 or 2.

Step 2: Variety & NY Times Reviews

The two best sources for print reviews of early films are Variety and the New York Times. Both can be found along the south wall of room 200. Turn to the left when you enter 200.
