July's exhibit observes the rich history and diversity of reggae music, with particular emphasis on some of the most influential reggae artists and musical groups. These include Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru and Lee "Scratch" Perry. While reggae is often categorized by a heavy four beat rhythm and laid-back tempo, its roots can be traced to Jamaican musical genres, most notably ska and rocksteady. This exhibit also contains resources which focus on reggae's close association to Rastafarianism and other information about International Reggae Day, which is celebrated each July 1.
