Library Privileges after Separation

Borrowing privileges
Retired staff living in Illinois can be issued an iCard and may borrow print materials (University of Illinois and I-Share items). See the link for details.
Courtesy Cards
Any Illinois resident may apply for a courtesy card to borrow materials from the University of Illinois Library.
Online resource access
Off-campus access to online resources is limited to current students, faculty, staff, affiliates with official appointments, and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) members.

Preserving Your Records and Data

Correspondence, records, and other content in your office should be evaluated before you leave. Within ISWS, the Water Resources Data and Information Section is charged with inventorying ISWS data resources. The University Archives may be interested in records pertaining to your research and professional activities.

DMOS is charged with overseeing the management of ISWS data resources. Check with them for required procedures prior to your departure.

Do you have materials on loan from the former ISWS Library? If so, please contact Susan Braxton before leaving ISWS.

University Library Loans

Please check your University Library account and be sure you have returned any materials you have borrowed before leaving the University. Your account can be viewed in VuFind or Voyager Classic. The same information is available in both systems.

Donating Books

How to donate books to the University Library Books and reports in your office may be offered to the University Library, and these gifts can be valuable additions to the collection. This page provides guidelines for the types of materials accepted, as well as how to make arrangements to drop off or have materials picked up.

These local organizations will accept book donations, but state regulations prohibit donation of state property:

Friends of the Urbana Free Library The Friends of the UFL raise money for the library by selling donated books.
Champaign Public Library Friendshop Friends of the Champaign Public Library raise money through sales of used books and other items in the Friendshop.
Urbana Champaign Books to Prisoners There are drop sites around the community. Guidelines for donors are at the link above.

Seeking Missing ISWS Publications

The University Library has a near complete set of ISWS publications, and ISWS has almost every publication available full text on the website. However, there are a few items that were not digitized and for which we have no paper copy. If you have copies of items on our list (see below), please contact Emily Benton.
