The University of Illinois Library is the largest public academic Library in the United States.
As an OLLI member, you are able to access our collections and services including books, dvds, online databases and newspapers, and more. This guide is meant to introduce you to the many resources of the University Library and help you to find your way around in-person and online.
If you have any questions, please contact Ask a Librarian.
Check out the CUMTD website for information about planning your trip. The bus system is the easiest way to visit the Library while school is in session, but information about parking is below.
Daytime parking on the University of Illinois campus can be difficult, and it may be more convenient to walk to some destinations. Check out our virtual maps for more details. There are meters from the City of Champaign, City of Urbana, and the University of Illinois on campus. Please read information listed at your meter for information about fees and enforcement. Most other campus lots are reserved for permit holders only, and your car may be towed if you park in prohibited spaces. University lots are open to visitors after 5 p.m. and on weekends and holidays, subject to posted restrictions.
Please note: The parking lot to the west of the Main Library Building is a metered parking lot which does not require a parking permit. Please read the parking meter for enforcement policies. This parking lot also has numerous designated accessible parking spaces.
Visitors may also take advantage of the campus Motorist Assistance Program for help with keys locked in cars, dead batteries, and certain other kinds of minor car problems. Call 244-HELP (244-4357).
For additional information on parking at Illinois, contact the Parking Department at 1201 W University Ave, Urbana, 333-3530.
