This guide is intended to provide basic library information to the staff of the Illinois State Water Survey.

Our Institutional Repositories preserve and make available documents and data created at the University of Illinois, including output of the Prairie Research Institute.

Guidance on using our institutional repositories

Your institutional repositories are a convenient and fee-free option for sharing and preserving your work. Ongoing preservation of files and a persistent URL's ensure long-term availability.  With your netID and password, you can log into either repository for self-deposit. These guidelines will help you determine which repository is appropriate for content you wish to deposit.

What is it? 

 Where should I deposit it?
  • Record of scientific observation (e.g., spreadsheet, instrument output, visual/audio recording of observations)
  • A digital object of scientific analysis (e.g., text or citation corpus on which analysis has been performed, visual or audio recordings of observations)
  • Scripts or code used in data analysis or modeling
  • Supporting data and documentation for a research publication

An appropriate data repository, such as

  • Conference or workshop paper, poster, or proceeding
  • Video or audio of a presentation (e.g., conference presentation or seminar)
  • A project report
  • White paper
  • An article manuscript
  • A thesis or dissertation.

An appropriate document repository, such as
