RedShelf and Day1Access are ways to access your course materials for a reduced cost. Please note that the library may have items listed on RedShelf and Day1Access for free. Please check the UIUC library catalog before purchasing content.
RedShelf is a digital course materials platform that provides students with access to digital content, e-books, and digital course packets at a reduced price through the Illini Union Bookstore. Students can find these resources on the Illini Union Bookstore's website by searching for course materials as usual, and if an e-book or e-packet is available as an option through RedShelf, it will be listed along with the other textbooks. Students can also go directly to the RedShelf search webpage through the bookstore and search for their required materials there.
The Day1Access program is digital access delivery model for your required course materials through Canvas at a reduced price. Access for all students begins the first day of class. Students registered in a Day1Access class who do not opt out will have the cost of the content automatically applied to the student’s account approximately ten days before the semester begins and will be charged/credited for add/drops during the add/drop timeframe. If students wish to opt out of Day1Access, they must do so during the add/drop period, by manually opting out through their Canvas course. If students choose to opt out by the deadline, access to the online content will be turned off and the cost will be credited to their student account.
