Arab American writers have been contributing to the literary world for decades and this LibGuide serves to feature them and their works.
In honor of April being National Arab American Heritage Month, this LibGuide provides a space for Arab American writers to be featured. April celebrates the Arab American heritage and culture and pays tribute to the contributions of Arab Americans and Arabic-speaking Americans. The recognition of the month of April as the National Arab American Heritage Month by the Department of State was mainly influenced by independent advocate efforts across the United States calling for inclusivity. Most notably the petition and social change campaign by Pierre Subeh, a Middle Eastern-American business expert and author.
Radius of Arab American Writers
Established in 1993, RAWI is a national organization that provides mentoring, community, and support for Arab-American writers and those with roots in the Arabic speaking world and diaspora.
Arab American Studies Association
Founded in 2012, the Arab American Studies Association (AASA) is a non-profit, nonpolitical organization of scholars and other persons interested in the study of Arab American history, ethnicity, culture, literature, art, music, politics, religion, and other aspects of Arab American experience.
