Théotime Langlois de Swarte, violin
When published in 1725, nobody could imagine Vivaldi's Four Seasons would become perhaps the most frequently heard music of all time. Vivaldi's singular genius continues to inspire artists the world over, lovingly demonstrated in this concert of Les Arts Florissants led by violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte. As this acclaimed Vivaldi performer and loyal member of Les Arts Florissants puts it: "For one of the best-known composers in Western music, it is astonishing there are still so many facets to explore." All the hallmarks of Vivaldi's style-joy, virtuosity, theatricality, exaltation-become evident as we heard the iconic Four Seasons set alongside music Vivaldi would have known in Venice and compositions which were in turn inspired by his bold vision.
