Krannert Center Events: 2025-2026 Season

Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer David Lang's newest work-before and after nature-is a monumental meditation on how people might imagine the world both before and after human existence. Featuring two boldly innovative ensembles familiar to Krannert Center audiences-Bang on a Can All-Stars and the Los Angeles Master Chorale-and paired with stunning video/visual design by Tal Rosner, before and after nature explores how people interact with the natural world, concentrating particularly on the things we don't really see or understand.

before and after nature was commissioned by Bang on a Can; Stanford Live; Los Angeles Master Chorale; Helsinki Festival and Helsinki Chamber Choir; Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois; with generous support from Robert and Maria A. Skirnick, Stephen Block, Leslie Lassiter, Raulee Marcus, Susan and George Reardon, Elizabeth and Justus Schlichting, and Abby Sher.
