Chicago-based composer, activist, and saxophonist Isaiah Collier draws his influences from the likes of Coltrane, Roscoe Mitchell, Wayne Shorter, and Gene Ammons. His group The Chosen Few has released six acclaimed albums, including their latest release, The World Is On Fire. Collier described the album as "...a sonic exploration, blending sounds, consciousness and activism to raise awareness about the pressing issues of our time." Downbeat Magazine has called Collier "The next sax giant" and describes the album as "...a heartfelt requiem for lives lost and gross injustices gone unrectified." Covering immense territory from the blues, hard bop and the avant-garde, Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few have an intensity and earnestness to their music and message that demands attention.
