Microforms

A guide to finding and using microfilm and microfiche at the University Library.

Overview

The History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library has a number of microfilm reader/printers and viewer/scanners. If you need help using them, feel free to ask any of our staff.

ScanPro Viewer/Scanners

The ScanPros are our newest microform scanners. With these microfilm scanners, you can create high resolution scans of film, fiche and microcards. We recommend using these machines over the older models located in the film stacks.

Ask any of our staff members for assistance using these machines.

Microfilm Reader/Printers

Canon microform reader/printersTwo Canon microfilm reader/printers are located just inside the microfilm stacks of the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library. You may view microfilm or fiche on these machines, or you may pay to print pages directly. The reader/printers have coin boxes and cost 15 cents per page. Change machines are located near the entrance to the Main Stacks (2nd floor, Main Library) and in the tunnel between the Main and Undergraduate Libraries.

For help using the reader/printers, please ask our staff.

Other Microfilm Readers

You can find microfilm readers at several other libraries on campus:
