Illinois Leadership Competencies: Personal/Self: Integrity

An effective leader nurtures and improves their own self-esteem, goals, relationships, and values through self analysis and self-growth. This LibGuide provides resources to support the development of the Personal/Self competency.

What is Integrity?

"I cannot and will not cut my conscience to fit this year's fashions."

-Lillian Hellman

Integrity is the final competency of the Personal/Self section and bridges into the Interpersonal/Team. Integrity focuses on your personal character, and your commitment to doing the right thing. A good leader can be trusted with privileged information, can stick to their values, and treats their co-workers/employees with respect.

These resources are intended to help you understand integrity deeper, and overcome moral/personal dilemmas. Many of these resources are courses and MOOCs (Massive Online Open Course), don't be afraid to spend time engaging with the information they provide. Integrity is not an easy topic to cover and will require constant development.
