Entomology Department: Organizations

A guide for those in the School of Integrative Biology. After using this guide, students in Entomology will be able to locate resources that are needed for their field of study.

UIUC Groups & Associations

UIUC's Entomology Graduate Student Association aims to foster the best possible academic environment for graduate students to pursue scientific knowledge as it relates to the field of entomology. The EGSA aims to provide the resources and opportunities for students to learn, grow, and become productive members in their respective disciplines. Members of the EGSA will become leading thinkers, researchers, and problem-solvers that help resolve issues currently faced in academia, policy, education, medicine, industry, agriculture, and forestry.

Professional Groups and Associations

The Entomological Society of America serves the professional and scientific needs of entomologists and individuals in related disciplines. Members have access to professional development resources, yearly meetings, and academic journals.

State Groups & Associations

The Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California provides quality public information, comprehensive mosquito and vector-borne disease surveillance, training to high professional standards, and effective legislative advocacy on behalf of California mosquito and vector control districts in an effort to protect the health of people living and visiting California. 


The Connecticut Butterfly Association promotes the awareness and appreciation of butterflies and moths, locate, inventories and encourages preservation of butterfly and moth habitat, develops and maintains Lepidoptera information. 


The Florida Entomological Society was founded in 1916 to promote and stimulate interest in the field of entomology. The FES holds annual conferences, and publishes the Florida Entomologist


The Georgia Entomological Society, maintained by the University of Georgia, provides a focal point for entomologists through the dissemination of results of original research, ideas and accomplishments in technology transfer, and information on entomology and entomologists, through its annual meeting and the Journal of Entomological Science.


The Kansas Entomological Society, also known as the Central States Entomological Society, provides a forum for entomologists and welcomes as members all persons interested in insects or other terrestrial arthropods, their ecology, behavior, systematics, physiology, control, conservation, etc.. The Society produces a quarterly publication, the Journal of the Kansas Entomological Society, and holds annual meetings. 


The Maine Entomological Society promotes a forum for discussion, cooperation, and collaboration among amateurs and professionals in entomology; encourages the active study of all aspects of Maine insects and terrestrial arthropods; and promotes educational activities on Maine insects and terrestrial arthropods throughout the state. 


The Maryland Entomological Society promotes the science of entomology in all its sub-disciplines; provides a common meeting venue for professional and amateur entomologists; issues the annual journal The Maryland Entomologist; and facilitates the exchange of ideas and information through its meetings and publications.


The Michigan Entomological Society promotes the science of entomology in all its branches and by all feasible means, and advances cooperation and good fellowship among persons interested in entomology. The Society publishes The Great Lakes Entomologist, and promotes youth education through 4-H programs. 


The South Carolina Entomological Society, in partnership with Clemson University, promotes skill and efficiency in entomological study, the publication and presentation of entomological study results, instruction of entomology courses, protects threatened or endangered SC arthropod species, and publishes the Journal of Agricultural and Urban Entomology


The Society of Southwestern Entomologists, in partnership through Texas A&M University, publishes a peer-reviewed journal, the Southwestern Entomologist, and holds annual conferences. 


The Wisconsin Entomological Society encourages and facilitates the exchange of information, ideas, data, and specimens between and among avocational and professional entomologists. The Society holds two annual meetings, yearly field outings, and publishes a newsletter.
