About Biological Abstracts

Biological Abstracts (BIOSIS) is an abstract and citation database Specialist Collection in the Web of Science suite of databases.

This database specializes in life sciences literature, including articles from 5,200 journals from over 100 countries. Topics include botany, microbiology, pharmacology, biotechnology, zoology, and biochemistry. Uses BIOSIS indexing, MeSH terms, and CAS registry numbers.

Ways to access:

  1. From the Funk ACES Library homepage, select "Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES)" under "Funk Library supports research for:." Then, under "Key Databases," select "Biological Abstracts." 
  2. From the A-Z Databases webpage, search for "Biological Abstracts (BIOSIS)."
