Getting access to books for Independent Reading

Note on checking Covid-19 related check-out policies - you can pick up physical books through Uni High Library through our locker check-out system. For checking out books from other units on campus, you will need a negative Covid-19 test for admission into the building to pick up your book. There are also many digital resources available for these topics. Please email Ms. Arnold or Paul if you have further questions.

UIUC Online Catalog - Searches all UIUC libraries.

You can use subject headings to refine your search. Here are some subject headings you might use if looking for a book on Native American fiction:

YOUNG ADULT FICTION -- People & Places -- United States -- Native American
Indian reservations
Indians of North America
Spokane Indians
Native Americans -- Washington (State)
Native Americans -- Reservations

Those are from a specific book, which is why some of the subject headings are more specific. One tip is to find a book that would be appropriate, and use one of its subject headings.

You can also copy and paste one of the above headings into the search field, and select "Subject" as the category.
