Introduction to the Biodiversity Heritage Library: Illinois & BHL

University of Illinois is a Member of the Biodiversity Heritage Library

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has been contributing to the Biodiversity Heritage Library since 2007, and became a full member of the BHL in 2014.

As of May 2023, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has added 6683 volumes from 4335 titles, and 2,149,949 pages to the BHL, and more than 5,000 images to the BHL's flickr collection.

On average, University of Illinois contributions to the Biodiversity Heritage Library receive more than 11,000 views by more than 4,000 users each month.

Much of the work the BHL has accomplished is due to volunteer efforts by the organizations involved and also users like you! There are many ways you can contribute to the efforts of the BHL whether it is suggesting content additions, tagging Flickr images, or more. See the list below for various opportunities!
