These pages provide basic information on some of the major actors in the Syrian conflict. There are a multitude of other actors involved and the list offered on each sub-page is by no means comprehensive or definitive. However, the pages should provide basic information about the major players in the conflict and the resources necessary to find more detailed information. Two sources in particular provide broad overviews of the main combatants in the conflict: The Council of Foreign Relations's "Who's Who in Syria's Civil War" (Dec. 2016) and Stanford's Mapping Militants Project. See the tab titled "Additional Resources" for further resources of this type and the tab titled "News" for more up-to-date information.
