Connect with other science communicators
The International Environmental Communication Association
The IECA is a professional nexus of practitioners, teachers, scholars, students, artists and organizations engaged in research and action to find more ethical and effective ways to communicate about environmental concerns in order to move society towards sustainability.
NPR Scicommers
NPR Scicommers is a community of scientists and engineers that includes undergrads, graduate students, post docs and faculty interested in improving their science communication skills. There are more than 1600 NPR Scicommers across the United States.
SciLinkR
Build connections with others engaged in science outreach.Discover new opportunities to mentor, do outreach in science and excite future scientists/engineers.Document your public engagement activities in science and create a shareable record for institutional and funding annual reports, CVs, and professional development.
Engaging Scientists & Engineers in Policy (ESEP) Coalitio
The Engaging Scientists & Engineers in Policy (ESEP) Coalition is an ad hoc alliance of organizations that have joined together to empower scientists and engineers to effectively engage in the policy making process at all levels of government (international, federal, state and local).
Portal to the Public Network
Organizations in the Portal to the Public Network (PoPNet) collaborate with scientists to bring them together with public audiences for meaningful conversations and activities around current science research. Scientists are prepared for these experiences through communication training that is fun, interactive, and relevant. After participating in training workshops, scientists put these skills to use during public engagement opportunities at museums and zoos, in libraries, and even at festivals and farmer’s markets. Participating in ongoing public engagement events is not only rewarding, but is essential for continued practice and improvement of communication skills.
Communicate your research
Atlas of Science
Atlas of Science publishes layman’s summaries of research articles to help scientists share, and to bring science to the broader audience.
The Conversation: Become an author
The Conversation is a nonprofit, independent news organization dedicated to unlocking the knowledge of experts for the public good. We publish trustworthy and informative articles written by academic experts for the general public and edited by a team of journalists. To be published by The Conversation you must be currently employed as a researcher or academic with a university or research institution.
Data Nuggets
Data Nuggets provide you, as a scientist, an avenue to share your research and results with a broad audience of students, teachers, and fellow scientists.
Massive Science consortium
Massive is dedicated to helping scientists share stories about their work and lives in pursuit of a more informed, rational, and curious society.
The Plainspoken Scientist
The Plainspoken Scientist is the science communication blog of AGU’s Sharing Science program.
Science Sketches
Science Sketches are short, accessible videos -- made by scientists -- about scientific research across the globe. This page provides instructions for you to create your own Science Sketch.
Take Action Toolkit
The resources in this toolkit will help you engage, educate and be a force for science. Inspire the next generation of STEM professionals, further understanding among the scientific community and other groups, strengthen collaboration and increase public understanding of science and its impact.
