If you have questions, our librarians are just a click away. We're excited to support you on your academic journey!

The tabs on the left will help you:

  • Find and access library materials, including books and articles
  • Request further assistance or support from the Library

If you want to learn more about the library, the Library 101 eText is available through CITL's Skillding's Blox etext series. The Library 101 etext will introduce you to the library's print and electronic resources, give you a broad overview of the available support services, and teach you other important tips and strategies to help you with your research and assignments.

Contact Us

The Library is home to many knowledgeable and friendly librarians who are happy to assist you with any questions about research or library services. All of the Library's services are staffed by real people, not an AI or bot. You can use any of the services below.

Reference Support

Reference librarians are available to answer questions most days of the week. You can ask questions such as: How can I find library materials like books, articles, or databases? How can I get research help? How can I learn more about the University Library services, hours,  and other resources?

  • The Ask-a-Librarian chat service provides help in real-time. Updated hours are available online.
  • Email Us: Responses within one business day.
  • Call Us: (217) 333-2290
  • Text Us: (217) 686-4361
    • You can SMS the Library from any cellphone supporting text messaging. Standard charges apply, based on your cell phone plan with your account provider, for both messages you send and receive from us.

Subject-Specific Assistance

In-depth or advanced research may require help from a librarian with expertise in your specific field or discipline. Subject specialist librarians are available to help you with your research.

  • The subject specialists webpage provides contact information for subject specialist librarians, and many include links to directly schedule an appointment.
  • The subject library directory can help you find your departmental library. Your departmental library can help connect you with specialized resources, and is another good point of contact if you aren't sure which subject specialist to contact for your research needs.
