Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS)
The mission of the Collaborative of High Performance Schools is to facilitate the design of high performance schools: environments that are not only energy efficient, but also healthy, comfortable, well lit, and containing the amenities needed for a quality education. CHPS helps facilitate and inspire change in our educational system. The goals of CHPS are to: increase student performance with better-designed and healthier facilities; raise awareness of the impact and advantages of high performance school design; provide design professionals with better tools to facilitate effective design; increase school energy and resource efficiency; and reduce peak electric loads.

U.S. Green Building Council--Center for Green Schools
Provides articles, programs, and other resources for schools interested in improving their environmental performance.

Healthy Schools Network
Healthy Schools Network, Inc. is a not for profit education and research organization dedicated to securing policies and actions that will create schools that are environmentally responsible to children, personnel, and to their communities. Centered on children's environmental health, Healthy Schools Network activities include information, education, and coalition building. It was founded in late 1994 as the New York Healthy Schools Network, a broad-based colation of parent, environment, public health, and education groups united in support of the New York State Regents Guiding Principles of School Environmental Quality. Since 1996 it has operated a nationally unique Healthy Schools/Healthy Kids Information and Referral Clearinghouse to help parents and others protect children and help local schools improve their environmental conditions and practices.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Healthy School Environments
Healthy school environments can affect the attendance, concentration and performance of both students and educators.  This website presents information about establishing and enhancing healthy school environments. 

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR Program
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.

PowerSave Schools Program
The PowerSave Schools Program has three primary goals: to help schools save money on energy costs and protect the environment through cooperative, school-wide changes in behavior, operations and maintenance procedures and retrofits of more efficient equipment; To provide excellent, hands-on learning opportunities for students; and to build pathways to green jobs.

Go Green Initiative
The Go Green Initiative is a simple, comprehensive program designed to create a culture of environmental responsibility on school campuses across the nation. Founded in 2002, the Go Green Initiative unites parents, students, teachers and school administrators in an effort to make real and lasting changes in their campus communities that will protect children and the environment for years to come.

Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation
The Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation invests in clean energy development and land preservation efforts, working with communities and citizens to improve environmental quality in Illinois. The Foundation supports programs and projects that will improve energy efficiency, develop renewable energy resources and preserve and enhance natural areas and wildlife habitats throughout the state.

Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Office of Pollution Prevention
By offering voluntary recognition programs and technical assistance, IDEM promotes pollution prevention activities in businesses and communities throughout the state.

Minnesota Green Schools
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency provides a list of links to information about sustainable schools in the state.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) P-12 Schools Program
NYSERDA is dedicated to providing objective technical and financial assistance to New York's K-12 schools. The program assists New York's school administrators and facility managers in building and maintaining school buildings that provide a safe, healthy, and energy-efficient environment learning environment.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)
The DEC Green Schools program assists schools with comprehensive solid waste management, as well as other aspects of waste reduction, energy efficiency and resource conservation.

Wisconsin Green and Healthy Schools Program
​Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin empowers, supports and recognizes schools for nurturing healthy kids and sustainable communities. Participating schools may reduce environmental impacts and costs, improve health and wellness, and increase environmental and sustainability literacy. PK-12* public and private schools register and participate through a self-paced, voluntary, web-based application.

Wisconsin Focus on Energy
Focus on Energy works with eligible Wisconsin residents and businesses to install cost effective energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Focus information, resources and financial incentives help to implement projects that otherwise would not be completed, or to complete projects sooner than scheduled. Its efforts help Wisconsin residents and businesses manage rising energy costs, promote in-state economic development, protect our environment and control the state's growing demand for electricity and natural gas.
