Handshake (FREE for current UIUC students)

Similar to LinkedIn for UIUC students: complete a profile and search for internships, full-, and part-time jobs.  Search by position, location (incl. on campus), or company.  Handshake hosts events including virtual career fairs, allowing students to sign up through the platform and view which employers will be in attendance.

Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities Database

Maintained by the Illinois Office of Undergraduate Research, this is a database of primarily off-campus summer research opportunities for undergraduate students. There are both domestic and international opportunities; some are only available to international students.

To search the database for business research opportunities, choose "Business & Economics" from the Research Area dropdown menu and then click Apply. A keyword search is not recommended, but is available.

Image of the search function on the Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities Database. The heading reads "Search for opportunities", with three search boxes below. The leftmost search box is labeled "Keywords". The center search box, with a dropdown menu, is labeled "Research Area". The rightmost search box is a yes/no dropdown under the label "Only show opportunities open to international students". The "Apply" button is left-aligned below the three search boxes.

Search early and often! Many applications are due before March, while some opportunities only appear later in the semester. The Office of Undergraduate Research updates the database on a regular basis. If you have questions or issues regarding undergraduate research, reach out to the Office of Undergraduate Research at ugresearch@illinois.edu.
