Use the bibliographies/reference lists at the end of relevant encyclopedia articles to identify more in-depth books, book chapters, or articles on focused aspects of your topic. Then, search the library catalog (see Finding Books) or use the library's Journal and Article Locator to find the full-text of those resources.
Reference books, like encyclopedias and handbooks, are great sources of background information about cultures and time periods. They summarize information found in scholarly sources, and you can cite them directly, but also check out their mini-bibliographies for each entry- some of the sources they cite may be more specific and very helpful for your research topic, and you can search for them in the library catalog.
