This website is the National Resource Conservation Service's listing of Illinois soil surveys. Counties are listed alphabetically. All of the soil surveys have been digitized and can be viewed here online.

Use this website to find soil surveys for states other than Illinois. Just like the Illinois website, the counties will be listed alphabetically and the soil surveys will be viewable online.

Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides soil data and information produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It is operated by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world. NRCS has soil maps and data available online for more than 95 percent of the nation’s counties and anticipates having 100 percent in the near future.

The Official Soil Series Descriptions (OSD) is a national collection of more than 20,000 detailed soil series descriptions, covering the United States, Territories, Commonwealths, and Island Nations served by USDA-NRCS. The descriptions, in a text format, serve as a national standard.
