Memorials and Monuments
American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC)
The ABMC maintains and operates 25 military cemeteries and 27 federal memorials around the world. Most of these sites honor the service of World War I and World War II veterans. A complete list of these monuments and cemeteries is available on the ABMC website.
Interactive Vietnam Veterans Memorial
An interactive website that allows users to view names on the Vietnam War memorial. Users are encouraged to leave stories or photographs related to any of the names that appear on the wall.

Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration
This website provides a variety of resources for learning about the Vietnam War, including fact sheets for each branch of the military and an interactive timeline of the conflict in Vietnam.
Korean War 60th Anniversary
Although no events are currently taking place to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, this site holds a wealth of information relating to all branches of service that were in operation during the conflict.
World War I Centennial Commemoration
In addition to a number of historical resources, this site lists events relating to the World War I centennial happening around the world through November 11, 2018.
War of 1812 Bicentennial (Canadian Government)
Beginning in 2012, Canada began a three year commemoration of the War of 1812 as a lead-up to the 150th anniversary of Canada's Confederation in 2017. The site is available in either English or French.
Find Battlefields, Parks, and Historic Sites
The National Park Service's Find a Park site allows users to search for battlefields, parks, and historic sites. You may also use the provided map to search for all such sites in a particular state.
Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System (CWSS)
A searchable database of the service records of soldiers and sailors who served during the American Civil War. Users can also browse cemeteries, regiments, prisoners, medal of honor recipients, monuments, and battles.
Illinois Veterans History Project
In addition to serving as an index of Illinois veterans, this project also includes personal narratives written by the veteran that recount his or her experiences.
Veterans History Project (Library of Congress)
The Library of Congress collects correspondence, oral histories, and visual materials to ensure future generations can learn about war directly from those who served.
Veterans' Voices Writing Project
The Veterans' Voices Writing Project (VVWP) serves as rehabilitation for veterans through the practice of therapeutic writing. These writings are then published in the Veterans' Voices magazine three times per year.
