Attribution

Give credit where credit is due:

  • DIRECT QUOTE: Use "quotation marks" around direct quotes and provide a reference to the original source.
  • PARAPHRASE: For paraphrased ideas, use 'single quotes' and provide a reference to the original source.
  • IDEA: Use inline references for other people's ideas.

Cite your Sources

Citations should be complete enough so that anyone can find your original source. Elements of a proper citation generally include:

  • Author (s)
  • Title of main work
  • Chapter or section title
  • Publisher/Provider
  • Date of publication and/or access
  • URL for online sources
