NEA Jazz Masters and recipient of the Ordre de Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, Charles Lloyd continues to elevate the art form with each performance and recording. One of the living legends of jazz, Lloyd is most famously known for his classic quartet in the mid-1960s with Jack DeJohnette, Keith Jarret and Cecil McBee. He has played with nearly every jazz musician of note over the last six decades. At 84 years old, Lloyd is at the height of his powers and is as prolific as ever. This project, the Ocean Trio, features Lloyd with GRAMMY-nominated pianist Gerald Clayton (Diana Krall, Roy Hargrove, John Scofield) and guitarist and composer Anthony Wilson (Diana Krall, Ron Carter, Madeleine Peyroux). According to The Guardian, this performance promises to be an evening of “. . . space, reflection, respect, and devotion to jazz’s roots.”
