Sinfonia da Camera concludes the 41st season in collaboration with University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign choral groups presenting the finest masterworks for orchestra and choir. The program begins with the grandly heroic and tumultuous Coriolan Overture by Ludwig van Beethoven after Shakespeare's tragedy Coriolanus. Next, Ian Hobson performs as piano soloist in Beethoven’s Fantasy for piano, vocal soloists, mixed chorus, and orchestra, Op. 80. After intermission, the program concludes with the Requiem Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, an iconic masterwork as overwhelmingly powerful as it is introspectively poignant.
