Game Studies (2001-current) is the oldest (and perhaps best known) journal in game studies. It is a non-profit, open-access journal dedicated to cross-disciplinary games research. Volumes are published a few times a year online.

Gaming History maintains a database of old arcade and console video games

Retromags preserves and makes accessible video games magazines from 10+ years ago. new magazines are posted frequently!

The Video Game History Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicating to preserving and teaching the history of video games.

VGMPF maintains a wiki of video game music and composers and includes recordings and sheet music.

The Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) is the premiere international association for games research. DiGRA holds a biennial conference and maintains a digital library with conference proceedings and other scholarly works. You can join DiGRA's mailing list for free or become a member to join a Local Chapter or one of their Special Interest Groups.

The American Library Association hosts a Games & Gaming Round Table for librarians & other information professionals interested in all things games. The Round Table hosts monthly webinars, spotlights games and games librarians, and offers grants to library's developing game programs and collections.

Game Studies 101 includes information about new games scholarship, a database of serious games, and resources for studying and developing games.

First Person Scholar (FPS) publishes Game Studies articles from scholars, developers, enthusiasts, and students. Note that while FPS publishes scholarly works, and is associated with the University of Waterloo, it is a "Middle State" publication and not a peer-reviewed journal.
