BIPOC is an acronym that stands for Black, Indigenous, (and) People of Color. It is considered a first-person language that enables a shift away from terms like "marginalized" and "minority". It reflects the desire to focus on racial injustices experienced by Black and Indigenous communities.
Getting a wide range of voices and opinions will help make your research as well rounded and thorough as possible, and STEM fields have historically under-represented BIPOC perspectives. It can be challenging to know of or locate a book about a STEM topic written by a BIPOC author if that is not the focus of the research. This guide is not meant to be an exhaustive list of resources, but was created to help you find and locate diverse perspectives under our specific research areas.
