Listening Between: Finding Choreographic Traces and Meaning in the Stacks was an exhibit curated by MFA Dance students in the Graduate Synthesis Laboratory class in Fall 2022 at the Music & Performing Arts Library. In this exhibit, each student selected two similar concepts and listened between them to find new resonances and possibilities. They have access materials in the library and invite the public to join in this listening between and they have activated their research through dancing, score making, drawings, archival research, and documentation. This exhibit asks us to be in dialogue with their research and the ways that dances lives in and is archived in the library.
The exhibit was accompanied by discussions and performances by Alex Tecza, Ana Valderama, and Banafsheh Amiri.
