Screen Readers: Home

This guide provides resources and information about screen readers.

What are Screen Readers?

Screen readers are a type of technology that allows users to hear digital text be spoken aloud or converted into braille displays. Screen readers can be beneficial to many types of users including those who have learning disabilities or are blind or visually impaired. Screen readers can be obtained for use on personal computers and most operating systems.

Most screen readers have extra functions like zooming, the ability to define words, find text, tell the user where the computer mouse is on the screen.
