Audio recordings of electronic works and various technical documents explaining the use of many tools used in the composition of electronic music.

Consists of 27 reel-to-reel recordings and sheet music of musical works by University of Illinois composition faculty and guest composers. These items document the Chamber Music and Contemporary Arts Festivals that took place between 1954 and 1990, as well as the compositional output of the faculty.

A major portion of the music library of station WGN, including approximately 164,000 parts in over 4,600 folders. Scripts, programs, correspondence, and other miscellaneous archival material accompanied the donation. The collection consisted of music scores and parts for the “Theatre of the Air” program as well as other WGN broadcast presentations. Included were orchestral works and orchestrations to accompany vocal works (many in special arrangements by Rosario Bourdon and others, with reduced instrumentation suitable for theater or salon ensembles), as well as published vocal scores and chamber music. Some vocal scores (and possibly other works) have been withdrawn from the WGN collection or transferred to other stack areas within the Music and Performing Arts Library since 1965.

Consists of correspondence; teaching materials including lectures notes, student records and evaluations, and student dissertations; audio-visual recordings; research notes; and original compositions documenting Brooks' career as a student, composer, performer, musicologist, and educator.

Paul Zonn donations of printed music and recordings

Consists correspondence, publicity packets, news clippings, audio-visual recordings, scripts, and original full scores (FS), condensed scores (CS) and parts (P) for compositions created by Eberhard throughout his professional music career.

Gift consisted of 2,159 items, including 407 classical recordings; 1,375 jazz, dance, and popular music discs; 175 movie soundtracks and original cast sound recordings; and 202 books, with heavy emphasis on movies and Hollywood personalities (non-music materials may have been transferred to other units within the University Library). Recordings are all 33 1/3- or 45-rpm discs.

Consists of Harry Partch's personal papers, musical scores, films, tapes and photographs documenting his career as a composer, writer, and producer. Of special note are the scrapbooks in series 2 that contain newspaper and magazine articles about Partch and his music.

The James W. Beauchamp Harmonic Tone Generator and Papers, 1963-1966 includes materials concerning Dr. James W. Beauchamp's research in acoustics, electronics, and music during his time at the University of Illinois. Includes the Harmonic Tone Generator, a voltage-controlled electronic music synthesizer, a bound copy of his dissertation, photographs, and professional publications.

Papers of Kenneth Gaburo (1926-93), Professor of Music (1955-68) contain correspondence, published and manuscript musical compositions, sound recordings, motion picture and video recordings, and photographs relating to his compositions and performances, Lingua Press music publishing business, and his New Music Choral Ensemble performance group, University of California San Diego Electronic Music Studio (1968-75), University of Iowa Electronic Music Studio (1970-91).

Consists of sound recordings, photographs of the University of Illinois' Experimental Music Studio used for its 40th anniversary, and posters and reports documenting Scott Wyatt's work as a School of Music faculty member and director of the Experimental Music Studio, and his work as a composer throughout his career at the University of Illinois between 1974 and 2014. Also included in these papers is the complete computer code used by Lejaren Hiller to create his computer composition, "Avalanche" completed in 1970.
