Foreign Languages and Area Studies Fellowships support graduate and undergraduate study in modern foreign languages in combination with area studies, international studies, or international or area aspects of professional studies.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students.

The Fulbright is for U.S. citizens who are seniors, graduate/professional students, and graduates. The Fulbright fully funds one year of study or research in any country where there is a Fulbright Commission. Some shorter term and English teaching programs are available.

The Boren Undergraduate Scholarship is for freshman through seniors who are U.S. citizens. The Boren provides students up to $20,000 to study abroad in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. The applicant should have a broad interest in national security.

This is a one-year internship in East or Southeast Asia for those with little academic or personal knowledge of Asia (less than 12 weeks spent in Asia or some Asian language courses are not means for disqualification). Young professionals, seniors, and graduate and professional students are eligible to apply. You must be a U.S. citizen under the age of 30.

Since 1990, the Blakemore Foundation, with the support of The Freeman Foundation, has awarded over $17 million in grants to college graduates and young professionals for an academic year abroad in full-time intensive language study. The fellowships cover tuition and a stipend for related educational expenses, basic living costs and transportation.
Superior candidates pursuing careers in fields such as academia, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), international business, accounting, law, medicine, journalism, architecture, teaching, social or NGO work, and government service are encouraged to apply.

The Gilman Scholarship Program is an undergraduate grant program for U.S. citizens of limited financial means to enable them to study abroad, thereby internationalizing their outlook and better preparing them to thrive in the global economy.

To provide international students with opportunities to conduct advanced studies in undergraduate & graduate programs at higher educational institutions in the Republic of Korea in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between countries.
