The National Associations of the Deaf (NAD) is a civil rights organization of, by, and for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. NAD was established in 1880 and has sought to be an advocate for the community since then.

The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is an international non-governmental organization representing approximately 70 million Deaf people worldwide. WFD's top priorities priorities are Deaf people in developing countries; the right to sign language; and equal opportunity in all spheres of life, including access to education and information.
