Resources and services offered to graduate students (and others) in the UIUC Chemistry Library.

University Library Resources Access

Some resources provided by the University Library may require NetID/password access from non-campus computers. An automatic prompt will occur for those resources that require this.  For any questions, please call the Chemistry Library at (217) 333-3737 or email chemlib@library.illinois.edu

SciFinder and Beilstein/Gmelin via Reaxys require users to register with an @illinois.edu email address.  For more information, please see the Chemistry Library website.

 

Services

  • Reference. The Chemistry Librarian is available for reference questions.  Simply email Mary Schlembach at schlemba@illinois.edu.

  • Instruction Sessions. Arrange sessions with the Chemistry Librarian about how to use library resources and related topics. Email Mary Schlembach, Chemistry Librarian.

  • New Books Lists. New books received are posted on a rolling basis.

  • Scanners. There is a planetary scanner available. At this time, email is not an option. Please bring a thumb drive to save scanned documents.

  • Photocopying. There are no copiers in the Chemistry Library. Materials may be checked out and photocopied in home departments or with a SCS chemistry account number in the mailroom.

  • Small Study Rooms. There are two Small Study Rooms available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each Small Study Room will accommodate four people maximum.

  • Group Study Room. The Group Study Room will accommodate eight people and will have an interactive media table, LCD monitor, and video conference equipment.

  • Conference Room. The Chemistry Library Conference Room is available during regular library hours. Reservations must be made with your @illinois.edu email account. All users of the conference room who intend to use the equipment must be trained by SCS Computing staff. A maximum reservation length for the conference room is four hours.   • Public Terminals. There are several Library public computers available for all users. Please be considerate if others are waiting.
