Historical collection of large-scale maps of cities and towns. Sanborn maps chart the growth of American towns and cities.

UWM American Geographical Society Digital Map Collection
The American Geographical Society Library Digital Map Collection currently contains over 500 maps, ranging from early maps of Asia to historical maps of Wisconsin and Milwaukee, as well as other American cities, states, and national parks.

David Rumsey Map Collection
The David Rumsey Collection was started nearly 20 years ago and focuses primarily on cartography of the Americas from the 18th and 19th centuries, but also has maps of the World, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania. The collection includes atlases, globes, school geographies, books, maritime charts, and a variety of separate maps, including pocket, wall, children's, and manuscript.

Architecture Visual Resources Center
From the University of Berkeley, an online public access digital collection of images in the history of architecture, urbanism, design, and art. Includes landscapes and garden plans. It can be searched by time period, designer, location, or title.

Botanical Society of American Image Collection
The Botanical Society of America has made a collection of approximately 800 images available for instructional use.
Catena: Digital Archive of Historical Gardens + Landscapes
Sponsored by the Bard Graduate Center through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Catena, the Digital Archive of Historic Gardens and Landscapes and its companion website, is envisioned as part of a larger, typologically organized archive of digital images with accompanying educational materials. The initial component of Catena is built around the villa, an important landscape type in garden history.

PAIS Index This link opens in a new window
The PAIS International database from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts contains citations to journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference reports, publications of international agencies, microfiche, internet material, and more from around the world. Newspapers and newsletters are not indexed. The database backfile dates to 1972: PAIS International includes records from the print PAIS Bulletin.

The PAIS Archive database comprises a retrospective conversion of the PAIS Annual Cumulated Bulletin, Volumes 1-62, published 1915-1976. At completion of this conversion, the PAIS Archive contains over 1.23 million records.

The PAIS Archive database contains references to monographs, periodical articles, notes and announcements, and analytics. The original historical subject headings have been retained in the file.
