Use the UIUC Online Catalog to search for books. Try using the Library of Congress Subject Headings, "Utopias, United States, History" or "Collective settlements, United States, History" as subject search terms to find a comprehensive list of books on the topic.
If a book is not available at UIUC . . .
At home without time to request a book? Click on Advanced Search and limit your search to electronic (e-book) sources! You can also do your subject search first, and then limit the results to e-books. Do try Google Books, but you'll only have access to snippets of most of the books in your results list.

1. First do a search in the UIUC Online Catalog.
2. Once you have your search results, use the sidebar on the right side to limit your search results by LOCATION.
3. Write down the call number and search the stacks at Uni for your book!
This service is Google's method of searching the invisible web. To see the full text of many of these sources, you need to be "authenticated" as a legitimate UIUC user. Do so by searching for the source title on the A-Z list of electronic journals and newspapers. Also try the advanced search.
