Environmental Education

The purpose of this book is to provide building blocks for designing and reviewing environmental education programs and activities.

GreenPrint, third edition is the third state plan produced under the direction of the Minnesota Environmental Education Advisory Board, a state board of 20 members representing state agencies and congressional districts. Last updated in 2008 but still has useful information.

Developed by the North American Association for Excellence in Environmental Education, this series provides guidelines for pre-K through adult environmental education programs and materials. Also includes guidelines for developing programs for professional environmental educators.

In this revised and updated article, Ed McCrea, former executive director of North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), reviews the history of the guidelines and how they have helped to advance environmental education (EE). EE now has a set of tools that promote unity, a common language, and the professionalization of the field.

Founded on the groundbreaking report A Framework for K-12 Science Education, the Next Generation Science Standards promote a three-dimensional approach to classroom instruction that is student-centered and progresses coherently from grades K-12. Developed by the National Science Teachers Association. These standards have been adopted for Illinois schools.

It shares successful policies, connects leaders, and sparks new ideas to reconnect all youth to the outdoors. Includes a state bill tracker, annual trend reports, and links to research related to youth and the outdoors.
