HPNL's COVID-19 Response

A guide to using the Library during the Fall 2020 semester. Intended for patrons of the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library, and the African American Research Center

Expanded online access

Libraries and publishers are working to provide as much access as possible during this period. Please contact us if you identify online resources that you need even if it looks like we do not have access to them. Although we cannot promise miracles, we will make every effort to find a way to provide access.

Many of the resources listed below provide temporary access to titles that are not listed in the University of Illinois Library Catalog. If you need an item that you cannot find in the library catalog, you should also feel free to contact us directly for assistance in locating alternative access.

Temporarily Available

These resources are provided by third party vendors who might require you to supply personal information in order to access. Also, access may be terminated at any time. That said, they are freely ebooks and videos being made freely available in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The Illinois State Library has arranged for temporary access (ending November 30) to a large number of online resources of interest: www.finditillinois.org/tryit/

Although we already own or subscribe to many of these, there are also some outstanding resources to which we do not usually have access, such as University Press Scholarship Online, a huge collection of ebooks from top tier university presses.

We are not allowed to post the login information on publicly-accessible web sites, so please contact us for login and password.
